Founded at the turn of the century, the Old Colonial Club has established itself as a market leader in the speciality food, beer wine and hospitality sector.

 

The club plays a key role in offering high quality home cooked cuisine, matched by a superb selection of real ales, wines and continental style beverages.

 

The Old Colonial has won many awards for its food, ales and wines, and is now recognised by national professional bodies, such as C.A.M.R.A.. (Campaign for Real Ale), Real British Food, The Food, Beer and Wine Association and The Yorkshire Fayre Society.

 

The Old Colonial enjoys a reputation of being able to offer local produce and a vast and varied selection of drinks to compliment each dish.

 

There is a spacious and accommodating conservatory and dining area to the front of the building, which offers comfortable seating and a view of the clubs’ landscaped grounds and flower beds.  On occasions diners are able to watch cricket matches played on the adjoining parish cricket ground. A perfect setting, for a perfect day out.

 

The clubhouse itself resembles a British colonial officers mess from days gone by, where diners and drinkers can sit and listen to ripping yarns and tales of daring do.

 

“ We do have a few characters” says owner Tim Wood, “ who after a few sherbets have saved penalties from George Best, been a trained tracker, taught the S.A.S. a few tricks and have strangled a fully grown tiger with their bare hands……..beat that!!

 

A traditional pub atmosphere is enjoyed throughout the week, with darts and dominoes being prevalent on Mondays and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are complimented by two differing styles of quizzes, Friday is the clubs’ food and drink promotion night. Saturday is entertainment night, offering high quality local bands, singers and comedians.  Sundays, if you aren’t pogged out by the very generous portions on offer from our Sunday Menu, you can stay and join in around the bar and hone your skills on how to strangle tigers or at least how to track one down.

 

Please don’t forget our party service. You can hire our function room, choose which era of music you would like, we have three styles of buffet menu and can offer a full hot food service.

 

Our drinks prices are more than reasonable and help make a party night at The Old Colonial a special occasion.

 

We can proudly boast that we have not had one customer eaten by tigers………….. ;-)
